Day 10 - Abbotsford

I drove out to vist my Aunt for her birthday. (it is really during the Olympics but not want to drive then).

We decided to go to the rec center there, as we had learned that the Russian team was practicing out there. After a 20 min wait... during which we got on some Russian News Station .. we were granted access.

Amazing view right over the rink. We were on the clock, only have 20 min to watch the training before the next group is brought in. As soon as we sat down we saw Maria Mukhortova & Maxim Trankov strutting their stuff, only to be disappointed that the next 10 min we waited for them to be ready to do stuff again.
It was interesting to see them this way. Maxim wearing a black shirt with a green skull on it, and black pants, Maria all in black. We could not hear the music, and it was only parts that they are needing to work on. We saw them talking and getting pointers from their coach. I saw where Maria is needing some extra work, her quad spin in the air (I dont know the real name). I think it will be interesting to see if she has improved when it comes to her performance on Sunday.
Over all it was great. and I can't wait till I get to go see the full program as it was in bits and pieces and to compare to all the rest of everyone. There is an other Russian pair skater that I did not get to see. She is 17 years old! How amazing for her to be here. I am super pumped for everyone I am going to see that day!!

The only negative part of the day was coming back home. I thought that by going on Wednesday I would be avoid crowd making there way home. I should have done some research cause I ran into all the people that went to the dress rehearsal for the opening show .
Lots of waist of gas to figure how to get around them:(
